 Everyone will be happy to see you making changes in your life right? Wrong. Other people can be the biggest obstacle you will overcome in an eating disorder treatment program.The desire to be loved and accepted is a primal human need that often drives us to conform to the behaviors and attitudes of those around us.Thus, the people around us have a profound effect on the way we see the world and our place in it. How we view ourselves is an emotional experience that frequently indicates the choices we make.

Comfort Does Not Come From Food

 The feeling of grief can be overwhelming. Whether the loss is someone dear to our heart, a job, our routine or a part of our selves, we experience grief whenever we lose something we deem to be of importance to our existence. Loss is part of the experience called life and grief is a process that, at some point, we will all undergo. Grief is not limited to feelings of loss or lack, it also includes other emotions such as shame and anger.

Rich, poor, black, white, brown, male, female, adult, child, gay, straight, college degree, GED, there is no end to the list because eating disorders do not discriminate. While most people may think disordered eating is the disease of ballerinas or models, the ED fact is that whether it is bulimia, anorexia, binging and purging or some combination thereof, eating disorders can affect anyone who is at ill ease.

The Freedom of Eating Disorder Recovery

It is hard to explain to someone who has never had an eating disorder the freedom it is to be out of one. Everyone in recovery will tell you that it's not necessarily all the behaviors that accompany the eating disorders but it is the obsessive, continual chatter that is in your head about food, weight, diet, and body image. Even the person that is restricting, dieting or suffering from Anorexia, has the sameMany people start the disordered eating when we were around 13 to 15 years old. It usually begins with a diet or restricting food.

A Healthy Relationship with Food

There are varying degrees of emotional eating. Some people just feel disconnected or bored or disappointed or anxious, so they’ll eat a piece of cake to distract themselves for a while. Others are in deep emotional pain, which leads them to seriously abuse food.
